BetterChain shared expertise with participants in the hackathon organised by the Blockchain for Social Impact Coalition (BSIC), a ConsenSys initiative to incubate, develop, and implement blockchain solutions that can address social and environmental challenges across the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Of particular interest was the Mineral-Track project, supported by representatives from ABN Amro and Fairphone, whose goal is to identify solutions to facilitate traceability of cobalt to its origin in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In the BSIC hackathon context, the Mineral-Track team explored a BetterChain suggestion to integrate data collection at mining community level into end-user supply chain due diligence efforts.

The experience has been truly inspiring, thanks to the vision, creativity and commitment of software engineers Kasper and Mark, as well as designers PJ and Mieka. The resulting introduction video forms a solid basis for future outreach, and framework development activities.

Congratulations to this brilliant team for taking the runner-up spot in the supply chain category. We truly hope that this will stimulate the involvement of more developers and partners!
